When we started Beach Day Studios, our young daughters expressed a desire to contribute to our game development process, so we started to teach them how to code when they were 5-years-old. They eventually helped us design levels for an educational math app. They really enjoyed seeing people play the levels that they had designed and were empowered by what they had accomplished and eager to see what else they could create. They are mini-developers now and we saw how learning computer science opened up their mind to unlimited possibilities.
As parents we witnessed how programming could influence learning and transformation but we also recognized that teaching code came with its challenges. It was difficult to keep their interest, encourage them not to get discouraged, and keep engaged with the current tools available.
As developers we were experiencing the immersive, engaging nature of VR and we were inspired.
We recognized that the essence of VR could greatly tear down the challenges of learning to code.
