Emails we send

Every kind of email you can get from indiedev.games, and how to turn the optional ones off.

Mis à jour le nov. 3, 2026 · Cet article est en anglais.

Emails are written in the language you chose in your settings (English if you have not chosen one).

Always sent

These are part of how your account works, so they cannot be turned off:

  • Verifying your email address, and resetting your password.
  • A notice to your old address when you change your email.
  • If a moderator suspends or restores your account.
  • For studios: when a build has been approved or sent back with changes.

Invitations

  • Studio team invitations. The owner of a studio invites you by username. Nothing changes unless you accept, from your dashboard.
  • Review invitations. A studio can invite you to review a game that is invitation only. You do not have to review it.

Optional emails

These are on until you turn them off in account settings, under Email notifications:

  • Comments. If you are on a studio's team: when someone comments on the studio or its games. For everyone: when someone replies to your comment, or to one written in your studio's name. At most one email of each kind every half hour, and none for what you write yourself.
  • Weekly summary. If you run or belong to a studio: on Mondays, the views, plays and new comments of your games over the last 7 days, compared with the 7 days before. Nothing is sent after a week with nothing to report. Admins and moderators do not get it.
  • Follows. One email for each new post from a studio or game you follow. See Following.

The email list for new tools

Separately, you can sign up for a short email when we ship a new free tool for indie developers. We email you only after you confirm through a link we send, and every email has an unsubscribe link.

Emails are never sent to people who have not verified their address, except the verification email itself.
