Your studio team can see how each game is doing. Only your team sees these numbers.
Where to find them
- Your dashboard shows the last 30 days for all your studios, each studio and each game.
- Stats next to a studio or game opens the details. Choose 7, 30 or 90 days.
Views and plays
- A view is a page load of the game page. A play is a press of the Play button. A view is not a person: the counts are by day, with no cookies and nothing that says who looked.
- Your own team, moderators and robots are left out, so your visits do not inflate the numbers. Numbers only start while a game is live.
- You also see plays per 100 views, the change compared with the days before, your busiest day and a bar chart for each day.
Where visitors came from
For game page loads you see the name of the website that sent the visitor, such as google.com or reddit.com, never the full address. Direct means no website was named: a typed address, a bookmark or an app. Visits from the site's own pages show as indiedev.games.
To see your own campaigns, add ?utm_source=name (or ?ref=name) to a link you share. It shows as campaign: name. For example, a link in your newsletter could end in ?utm_source=newsletter.
In-game events
A game can count things players do, such as levels finished, and the Game Analytics page (in the menu under your name) lists them for each game. See Send game events from Godot or Defold.
News and devlog stats
News stats (on your dashboard, your studio page and your studio's news page) shows how your posts are read: views for the last 7, 30 or 90 days, all-time views, a bar chart per day, where readers came from and a table with each post. It counts page loads of published posts the same way as game views: no cookies, never a person, and your own team, moderators and robots are left out. Drafts and scheduled posts are not counted until they are published.
Weekly summary email
On Mondays, if your games had activity, you get an email with last week's views, plays and new comments for each studio and game. You can turn it off in your account settings. See Emails we send.
Insights: what works best
The What works best page, linked from your dashboard, groups your live games by tag, engine and AI setting and shows how each group did over the last 30 days. It also shows an average for other studios' games in the same group, so you can see where you are ahead. These comparisons are anonymous: they never name a game or a studio, and a group is only shown when at least five games from three other studios are in it. A game with several tags counts in each of them, so the rows overlap, and the numbers show what happened, not that a tag caused it.
